More than 25 Years of Legal Experience

Baltimore Pharmaceutical Litigation Attorney

The Law Offices of Stephen J. Nolan has litigated cases involving consumers who were harmed by defective drugs and medical products. Some of the cases our firm has litigated involved deadly side effects and incorrect labeling.

The Ground Breaking Synthroid®/Knoll Pharmaceutical Class Action Lawsuit

In the mid-1980s, Knoll Pharmaceutical was sued for suppressing research that proved that another generic drug was equivalent to, and less expensive than, Knoll Pharmaceutical's drug, Synthroid®. The founder of our firm, Stephen J. Nolan, was retained as special counsel to CareFirst of Maryland, Inc./CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield.

Working with counsel for other Blue Plans and third-party payors for more than three years, he participated in the investigation into the claims against Knoll Pharmaceutical in connection with Synthroid®.

The case was successfully settled, and it is significant because it established a mega-fund of approximately $88 million for consumers and $46 million for insurance companies, thereby protecting the interests of third-party payors, such as CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, which was overcharged by Knoll Pharmaceutical.

The Law Offices of Stephen J. Nolan is a results-driven firm with experience in pharmaceutical litigation. We continue to serve as co-counsel with law firms throughout the country which work together to manage the massive pre-trial work necessary in suits against the major corporations which manufactured the defective drugs involved. Please review our website to learn more about our firm, our experience litigating defective drug and class action lawsuits and our legal team. You can also contact us to arrange a private meeting with Steve Nolan.

As a past President of the Baltimore County Bar Association, Stephen J. Nolan is well-respected by his colleagues and in 1989, he earned the prestigious AV® peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell for his legal ability and ethical standards. It is because of his reputation for hard work and successful results that many law firms inside and outside of Maryland regularly refer their clients to him for specific cases.

We look forward to the opportunity to speak with you about your case, including answering questions about your litigation options, which sometimes includes your decision to file an individual lawsuit or join in a class action lawsuit.

We are available to investigate cases involving Fosamax®, Yaz®, Yasmin®, Avandia®, Digitek®, and Trasylol®. We can also address questions relating to DePuy ASR™ Hip Replacement Systems, the Artelon Spacer®, and Bard®, Composix® or Kugel® hernia patch.

If you or a loved one has been injured as the result of a defective drug or medical product, your legal remedy should meet your individual needs. The best way to evaluate your options is to contact us so we can meet with you privately to explain your legal rights, as well as your options.
